The Pebbletree summer party is an important date in the business’s calendar, as it’s one of the two main employee get-togethers outside of working hours – the other, of course, being the annual Christmas function.
Luckily, just like the previous year, the British weather was on our side which enabled everybody to make the most of the venue’s spacious outdoor area and bask in the glorious sunshine all day.
As usual there was a very good turn-out, with employees of both Pebbletree and its sister company in Ireland, Goldfish Telecoms, travelling to join the rest of the team to celebrate what has been a successful year so far for the business on the back of sustained employee growth and an industry award win earlier in the year.
As ever an enormous spread was put on by the company bosses for staff to tuck into at will – and we really were spoilt for choice. At one end of the room was a selection of cold food from wraps and sandwiches to pasta; while at the other side was the hot food – including a mini mountain of hot-dogs!
And of course, no Pebbletree party would be complete without cake. After the popularity of her tasty cakes at last year’s Christmas party, we once again called on Helena Reed of the Baked Cupcakery to hand-craft our enormous Pebbletree logo cake, on top of dozens of colourful cupcakes to accompany it.
Luckily on this occasion, unlike at last year’s Christmas party, our large branded cake survived a whole day without being face planted or accidentally sat on, allowing people to indulge in the half-carrot cake and half-banoffee throughout the night.
We recently had a Hawaiian themed day in the office, which consisted of staff coming in to work dressed in suitable attire, sampling Hawaiian style food and even a limbo stick. We decided we would bring the limbo stick to the summer party, so later on we could have competitions should anyone fancy showing off their flexibility and coordination.
Needless to say, as the evening grew longer and the drinks kept flowing, it wasn’t long before the limbo stick was brought out and the competitions commenced – with drinks still in hand in some cases without being spilled; a skill in itself, surely?
We would like to thank everybody who could make it to this year’s summer party, and also the Cavalier for hosting us, Helena of the Baked Cupcakery for her delicious cakes, Juniper’s Pantry for providing the food, and of course, our directors for paying for and putting on an excellent day had by all!
